HOW TO

Sugar Your Pubic Area

It's time to sugar. Follow this step-by-step visual guide to get the best sugaring experience. Tell the paste to be your friend during this process. It's a little painful.

Here's what you need to know.

give yourself 25 minutes if you are just doing your bikini area and 45 minutes for a Brazilian

Use Sugardoh Body Powder to absorb additional moisture, sweat, and body oil on your pubic area.

This will make the sugar adhere to the skin like magic. You can also use baby powder, cornstarch, arrowroot powder, or oat flour. KEEP THIS CLOSE BY. People normally sweat when they are nervous, hot, or in pain.

Pick a position.

Try standing while propping one leg up on a bathtub or chair (Captain Morgan pose) OR set up a towel on the floor and lean back in butterfly pose.

Dig into your paste using your a metal spoon (or you hand) and grab a gumball-sized amount of sugar paste.

The sugar will be quite stiff at first and will warm up as you keep working with it.

Check the direction of your hair growth.

This will dictate how you will apply your sugar. Your pubic hair grows in all sorts of directions, so grab a hand mirror and take a good look at your purse.

TIP: Run your hand over the hair in every direction to find the direction of hair growth. The direction that provides the most resistance is against the grain, while the direction that provides the least resistance is with the grain.

Keep the skin tight and taut.

Use one hand to manipulate the sugar and the other to pull the skin tight. Seriously, if you don’t, it will hurt more and you will bruise!

Start at your inner thigh, where hair is most sparse. 

Because it’s a low-density area, it will be a “not so scary part” to start. Think of it like mowing your lawn: if you start where the grass is thickest, your mower will get stuck and stall out. Follow the curve of your bikini line.

TIP: The growth pattern here tends to grow downward (towards your booty), so apply the sugar going upwards (towards your tummy).

Scoop the wax up against your hair growth.

Always using the edge of your applicator (or fingers) perpendicular to your bikini area. Spread the sugar 1 to 3 times in an even application, lifting after each spread. As a beginner, start with a 2 inch section and work up from there. For more on the scooping technique, click here.

Quick pause and hinge.

Make sure you have a little lip of wax at the end of your application. Hinge your applicator down, parallel to your thigh.

Flick down FAST in the direction of hair growth.

Keep your applicator as close to the skin as possible, almost grazing the tip of your skin as you flick. If you lift your applicator up and away from your body, you’ll break the sugar connection (and you don’t want that). Imagine brushing eraser crumbs off a table.

Now move on to the pubic bone, the top part of your pubic area. 

Start from the outside of the crease of your thigh and work your way in until you remove the desired about of hair.

If your wax starts getting too gooey, transitions to strips and reapply powder.

You use a little more paste using the cloth strips but it's just as effective.
